How do I use an E-bike?

Like any bike, you can pick this beauty up and pedal away. The real magic comes when you awaken the Japanese Yamaha motor system, located elegantly over your left thumb. One-click of the power button to start her up. Then press up for assisted pedal power matched at 75% of your own power output. Another to take it up a notch to match your actual leg power per cycle, with an additional 3 more boosts to take it all the way to super-man mode at 250%!  Hills will never feel the same again! This bike's safety feature is that its motor tops out at 32km/h so that the kid in you doesn't get too carried away. If you have a smartphone you can download Giant's handy free app to track maps, distances, and power. Available on Apple and Android.

Our team will arrange a time and a place to size up the bikes at your convenience, be it hotel or Airbnb. Then explain safety equipment, maps, bike mechanics and answer any questions about your day. Our team has plenty of local knowledge to make your day run smoothly so don't hesitate to ask about hotspots, scenery or coffee! You will have full contact with a staff member at all times in case of an unfortunate accident or repair.

Pickups

Just a simple text at the end of the day to let us know where we can pick up the bikes and we will collect all your gear at your convenience. Shuttle services from anywhere in our region are also possible at a small fee and can be added on at any time if the weather turns bad or fatigue kicks in. We suggest giving our team an idea of your route so we can estimate return times to avoid delays. • We are very flexible and will accommodate drop-offs for free to your door. Ring 027 7 GO BLUE (746 2583) to check availability. Please pass on the guest's number so we can double-check their address and pick up time.

They will get a message the day before the bikes are dropped to reconfirm booking, then another one halfway through their ride to see what time they estimate their return and to make sure they're having a great day. Once they're an hour away from their finished location we ask them to let us know so that we can pick up the bikes at their convenience either back at their accommodation or at a designated location in town.

We provide locks that they can use to keep the bikes/helmets safe if they choose to leave the bikes at the designated location unattended. If need be, we can then collect the bikes without them meeting us, if the guests have a busy schedule, for example.

  • The bikes are an engineering work of genius and we ask you to ride them within your limits and avoid water where possible. If there is any misuse of them, then the damages fees will be passed on to the guests.

If the guests decide they no longer want to continue their ride they can be collected for an additional small fee which can be arranged on the day. Some guests find that they ride from Queenstown to Gibbston valley and would like to be picked up after having a few wines. This shuttle costs $21 per person.

Other locations such as Jack's point, Frankton or Kelvin Heights incure a $16 fee pp.
