Moutere Hills Winery, Restaurant & Bar
Moutere Hills winery is situated amongst the picturesque hills near Nelson in the warm and sunny north of New Zealand's South Island. It is a family owned boutique vineyard and winery, owned and operated by Rusty Rayne and Lisa Goodson. The property, located 2kms from the historic Upper Moutere village, comprises of two vineyards; one on the north facing hill block and the other on the lower home block. The first vines were planted on the property in 1993 and the most recent in 2013.
After a fire destroyed the original winery in 2006, a state of the art winery was built in its place. A new restaurant and cellar door have also been rebuilt and is hugely popular with locals and tourists. The restaurant has an indoor and oudoor seating offering a superb dining experience overlooking the garden and vines. The cafe currently operates 12 months of the year.
The Fox n Grapes wine bar operates out of the hops barn and is open on Friday evenings from 5pm (from Labour weekend). Full meals are available until 8.30pm (bookings recommended). The bar also provides a unique and rustic facility for birthdays, work functions or special occasions.
