Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre

5
Marlborough

The Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre is Marlborough’s single most visited attraction which is perhaps surprising given the region is world famous for its wine. However, those who have visited agree that the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre houses a display like no other!

Home to two exhibitions, the original, Knights of the Sky is film director, Sir Peter Jackson’s own collection of WW1 aircraft and artifacts. The story of aviation in the Great War is brought to life in sensational sets by WingNut Films, some recreating actual incidents and featuring mannequins by Weta Workshop. The rare memorabilia are worthy of any national collection and ranges from beautifully crafted 'trench art' through to personal items belonging to the famous Red Baron himself.

Dangerous Skies is a new exhibition featuring aircraft from WW2 including the world’s only flyable Avro Anson Mk.1 and a Griffon-powered Spitfire. Women pilots feature more prominently in this exhibition and in a world first (outside of Russia) the Battle of Stalingrad leaps off the pages of history in a truly thought-provoking cinematic experience.

Joy flights are also available in an open cockpit Boeing Stearman or a Yak3 Russian fighter. See our website for details.

Omaka is open daily until 5pm and offers exclusive merchandise and great coffee!

Open Everyday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
